Description
The Chelsea 489XLAHX-A3GH or 489XLAHXA3GH is a 489 Series Power Take-Off assembly designed for manual transmissions with an 8-bolt PTO mounting aperture, including Eaton/Fuller, Volvo/Mack, and Tremec units. The one-piece cast iron housing bolts directly to the transmission opening without an adapter plate, eliminating an extra potential leak path. Intermittent torque for this series is 201-300 lb-ft (301-400 Nm); confirm actual torque ratings on the Chelsea 489 application pages. Output shaft is a 1-1/4″ round with key. Shift is wire/cable mechanical. Output power runs 46-55 HP (31-40 kW), with shaft power of 24 HP at 500 RPM and 48 HP at 1,000 RPM. Internal parts are common to the Chelsea 442 Series. The 489 Series uses tapered bearings rather than needle bearings for increased load-bearing capacity. Twenty-seven output options are available across the series, including Chelsea’s 360-degree rotatable flange with greaseable shaft to reduce pump shaft spline fretting and corrosion. Eleven internal speed ratios are offered across the series. Typical applications include utility trucks, dump truck and trailer, snow and ice removal, fire and rescue, and aerial and municipal equipment.
